Williamson Flats Ground Breaking

About 40 people attended a groundbreaking ceremony for the Franklin Flats affordable housing development on Tuesday.

The 212-unit development, at 2050 Wood Duck Court, is the result of a public-private partnership among the Franklin Housing Authority, Elmington Property Management, the Tennessee Housing Development Agency, the Williamson County Commission and the Franklin Board of Mayor and Aldermen.

Franklin Flats will include a pool, fitness center and other amenities, said LC Wallace, director of development for Elmington. It is slated for completion in summer 2026.

Eric Alexander, director of multifamily programs for the THDA, said Truist Bank provided almost $36.5 million in equity, with another $43 million in developer paid tax-exempt bonds issued through Williamson County Industrial Development Board.

"The housing need in this area is acute," Alexander said. "Two hundred and twelve units makes a real difference."
